I especially love ironman mode in X1 and X2 wasn't stable enough for me to dare trying that mode unfortunately.

I liked the cool things added in WotC but it never felt like this perfectly tight loop with regards to upgrades and progression for me the way the first game did. It ran very poorly on my old computer so I played it on PS4 where it also had a lot of technical problems.

Unlike you I've only played through X2 maybe 3 times. I would vote for it over either of these titles. Thinking of turn based games, I just realized Darkest Dungeon would be good in these brackets. I think I have to give the edge to X-com 2, but it's surprisingly close. There's a lot to love about it, and I can't really say they fucked up any part of it, unlike X-com 2, but.well, there's just less to it.

So easy to pick up or replay, a nice short and sweet strategy gem that turn based strategy fans should check out. Still, I did get enjoyment out of it if nowhere near as much as the original. The additions in the War of the Chosen expansion helped a lot to add interesting variables, but it still lacked a feeling of replayability that the first game had and glaring technical issues caused me to not even try out ironman mode as the game was very glitchy and crash happy, at least the PS4 version would hard crash when you are dealing with a lot of zombies. A lot about it is good, but it never really felt as tight as the first game. X-com 2 didn't really meet my high expectations. It provided the most intense thrills I've ever gotten from a turn based game once you take loading save games out of the equation.

Replayed it many times on ironman mode classic difficulty and just had blast, whether failing or succeeding. I have a Deep love for X-com Enemy Unknown/Within.
